The other modern tweaks to the bike include disc brakes, standard ABS, and some exhaust work to meet emissions regulations. Apart from that… even Royal Enfield is proud to claim that it’s still mostly the same bike as in 1932. The only real difference in the engine since inception is that it has moved from a carburetor to electronic fuel injection, and the addition of an electric starter. It is powered with the tried and true Royal Enfield 499cc twin-spark single-cylinder engine, producing 27.2 BHP and 30.5 lbs-ft of crank torque. And throughout its life, speaking to the well thought out British engineering and design of the bike, not much has been changed. In fact, counting the smaller engine variants, the Bullet is the oldest continuous production motorcycle in the world, with the original Bullet first released in 1901. The 2021 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 is the latest in a long model line that stretches all the way back to 1932.
